FIRN MANAGEMENT BOARD

The Forensic Institute Research Network is managed by a Board drawn from the members of FIRN. The Board’s role is to provide strategic direction to FIRN, coordinate its numerous projects, and occassionally to act on behalf of the membership.

  • After graduating with a degree in Applied Biology Paul completed a Masters in Computer Based Information Systems, researching computer assisted learning. Moving to the University of Hull in 1993, working in the Biological Sciences department on the TLTP Bionet project as a learning technology adviser, promoting the effective use of technology to support biology teaching.

    After completing a postgraduate teaching diploma he became a member of the University’s Educational Development Team, who is responsible for delivering the University Higher Education Teaching Certificate. During this time he also moved to central support services to provide teaching and learning support across all subject disciplines.

    In 2002 he became Manager at the Physical Sciences Subject Centre, which is part of the Higher Education Academy. Paul is based in the Chemistry department at Hull where his role is to promote good teaching and learning practice in physical sciences departments across the UK. This covers a multitude of activities including working with a range of external organisations and professional bodies to promote science education.

To become a member of FIRN you must be an academic, practitioner, or postgraduate student with a legitimate interest in forensic science research or teaching.
