The Forensic Institute was founded in 1999 as an international network of experts providing professional forensic services as well as a significant academic resource. In 2007 we moved to our current offices and created our core team of scientists and administration staff. Our aim continues to be the provision of the highest quality scientific and medical services and training relevant to civil or criminal justice. We are also committed to the development and improvement of professional standards in every aspect of the use of science and medicine in the law. The Institute’s Executive Board includes one of Scotland’s leading Queen's Counsels. The Fellows of the College of The Institute are recognised as among the leaders in forensic research and practice. The Director of The Institute is Professor Allan Jamieson who, as well as extensive casework experience, is well known for his entertaining and informative lectures across the UK. Our extensive expertise is drawn from across the world and includes public and private forensic science laboratories, individuals, and academic establishments. Quite simply, the Institute uses the world’s leading experts to provide one of the most comprehensive and high quality sources of forensic scientific and managerial expertise anywhere.
