The organising committee of the second FORensic RESearch and Teaching Conference (FORREST) are delighted to invite you to join us at UCLAN in September. FORREST will showcase some of the latest developments in forensic research and the teaching of forensic science. Following closely the successful model of FORREST 2005 a combination of presentations, posters, social events, and workshops will provide delegates with an opportunity to learn and network with colleagues and some of the best practitioners. The current line-up of speakers is expected to include Dr Dick Shepherd (Home Office pathologist), Sir Louis Blom-Cooper QC, Prof Dave Barclay, Dr Lyn Fereday, Dr Sean Doyle (Forensic Explosives Laboratory), and Prof Allan Jamieson. Workshops are planned on cross examination, the autopsy, ‘crime to class’, explosions, and cold cases. |
With the continued support of the Higher Education Academy, the conference also provides a platform for the very best students and projects to be presented to an influential audience and to meet potential employers; an ideal introduction to life beyond the degree.
We are now issuing a call for papers (oral and poster) on any topic relevant to research and education in forensic sciences. Of particular interest are novel techniques or developments of existing techniques, and submissions from postgraduate students – although this is not a restriction, merely a suggestion.
A poster session and exhibition will be integral parts of the conference. All suitable posters will be subsequently published on the FIRN website, and selected papers will be published in the new online open access Journal of the Forensic Institute.
