The
Forensic Institute is constantly developing new
areas of interest. Our philosophy is to encourage
the greatest fit between the interests of our
staff and the aims of The Institute. Jobs are
therefore expected to develop by mutual agreement
within the team. Scientists are expected to develop
their roles within the team and the varied interests
within The Forensic Institute. Our scientists
and senior scientists:

Assess scientific, medical,
and other expert forensic reports for scientific
rigour of the methods and conclusions.

Present
these to other team members, solicitors, and
courts in written or verbal form.
-
If required,
manage individual cases including the engagement
and supervision of other experts.
-
Prepare letters
and other correspondence and communication
with the Institute’s clients and suppliers.
-
Contribute
positively to the Institute’s quality processes.
-
Take
part in discussion and presentation of others’
cases.
-
Advise solicitors and others of the meaning
of scientific terms and methods in a comprehensible
way.
-
Take part in the professional development
activities of The Forensic Institute including
the Forensic Institute Research Network and
the Institute’s conference and seminar series’.
-
Contribute
to the development of the Institute’s training
programme.
-
If required, to provide teaching input
to the Institute’s training programme and events
-
Maintain
scientific knowledge by personal reading and
other professional development activity.
-
Other
duties as reasonably required.
Hours of work
Full Time, and flexible within
limits. There are no set hours, but a minimum
of 37.5 hours per week is expected. Normally,
you will work Monday to Friday between 09:00
and 17:00, or as required.
Holidays
28 days holiday per year, including
public holidays. You may be required to work
public holidays.
Unused holiday entitlement may be carried forward
to the next holiday year. The amount of holiday
that can be carried forward into the next holiday
year is limited to 5 days. |
